Humans of The Witcherverse
Humans are the major race in both the Northern Kingdoms and the Nilfgaardian Empire. When they first arrived on the already populated continent, they rather quickly set about conquering the lands already inhabited by elder races. This lead to their dominance and so the elves, dwarves, gnomes and halflings are now generally referred to as nonhumans. Interestingly enough, because both humans and elves can easily interbreed, most humans nowadays are believed to have elven ancestors.
Humans and elves are not terribly dissimilar in appearance. Their size is roughly the same but elves have pointed ears, smaller teeth and tend to be more delicately featured. Humans also do not live as long (by far) as elves.
The humans are at war with elves in particular and have a rather poor relationship with the dwarves, halflings and gnomes. The races do live together in the cities, however the non-humans are forced to pay a levy just for being non-humans. Several pogroms (ethnic cleansing) have taken place in the cities. Many of the larger human cities were built on the ruins of elven cities which the humans had burned down; cities like Vizima and Novigrad, to name only two.

Humans of Verden

Humans of Brugge
|
Verden is one of the small independent kingdoms of the North, located just north of river Yaruga's mouth, neighbor of Cintra in the south Cidaris in the north and Brugge and Temeria in the east, though all of the borders with Temeria is blocked off by entirety of Dryad rulled forest of Brokilon, spanning almost over half of Verden's land.
Verden's king Ervyll by no means recognizes the dryad queen Eithné as a rightful ruler of Brokilon and has own plans for the forest area, one being continually stopped at Dryad's arrow pointy ends. There is a deep hatred between the rulers and often times rewards for dryad scalps are offered. The western of the kingdom is often troubled by Skellige's raiders. Verden's coat of arms is black and yellow checkered field. |
Brugge is a small vassal kingdom of Temeria , neighboring with dryad forest Brokilon and Verden in the west, Temeria in the north, Sodden in the east and Cintra in the south.
Brugge's king Venzlav is a lenient king, often timed criticized for his very lax approach towards Brokilon dryads. However his leniency is hardly repaid in kind for those unfortunate who wander into Brokilon itself. The coat of arms of Brugge is a silver anchor on a green field. |
