The Witchers - The School of The Falcon
A Review of the Witcher School of the Falcon's Notable Differences From Other Witcher Schools:
The primary and most immediately noticeable difference between the School of the Falcon and other Witcher Schools is that the School of the Falcon has produced female Witchers. Why this school is willing, or able, to take, train and mutate young women into full Witchers remains a mystery, and seems likely to remain that way after the school's destruction in the pogrom by the neighbors of Kaer Arkstan, the City of Garren's Mill and town of Old Oak in 1192AR.
The second most notable difference in the Falcon Witchers from their cousin schools is their use of archery. Specifically they are known to carry relatively compact, but highly powerful, recurve bows and a versatile selection of arrows, including ones with arrowheads crafted from silver alloy. Their skill with these bows is considered extremely high, at least according to what relatively credible accounts have been recorded, setting them equal with some of the finest elven, or perhaps even dryad, archers by one enthusiastic recounting.
The third major difference in the Falcon School is their favoritism towards weaponry other than the traditional longsword. While they are still noted as typically carrying at east one full longsword over their shoulders, which seems to usually be their iconic silver blade, the Falcon Witchers have often been recorded as also bearing a single sword and shield to wielding glaives. It seems their preference in these matters leans towards weapons that allow either high mobility, finesse, and precision strikes intended to end a fight in a single attack
Similarly to the above, it is most common to find a Falcon Witcher wearing lighter armor, again with a focus on range of motion and mobility, that would also not interfere with their use of archery. In addition, this seems to have something to do with their specific training practices and their likelihood in finding and ease in ascending to high perches from which to find an advantageous shooting position.
In keeping with their school name, some Falcon Witchers have practiced falconry. Whether this is a school-wide trend is not clear, but one notable example in record has a Falcon Witcher tracking a monster with the aid of her peregrine falcon and some mystical link with which she shared the bird's vision and perhaps communicated with it after ingesting some strange admixture from a potion phial.
Falcon Witchers have demonstrated finer control over the effect and targeting of their 'Witcher Signs', though it seems they have difficulty summoning the same sheer power which some other schools are known to achieve. It is thought this apparent trade off might have been related to the Places of Power local to Kaer Arkstan before the schools destruction.
A Note On The Destruction Of The Witcher School Of The Falcon:
As it pertains to Falcon School Witchers in the modern day of 1262AR, it seems that at least one and perhaps as many as two, as the descriptions of appearance are woefully unclear, of these Witchers continue to practice their trade in their traditional areas running north and south along the River Ribbon. It would seem these remnants were not caught in the pogrom that destroyed the school's home of Kaer Arkstan, and despite their existence the school is still considered officially ended due to its inability to create new Witchers. While their situation may seem tragic, they are a fascinating look back into the history of the aberrant monster hunters.
