- From 2700 to 1700 years before resurrection (BR) dwarves arrive in the continent, Gnomes already have various settlements.
- Between 1700BR and 230BR the elven Age of Migration was at its peak, many elves came to the continent and settled there, creating beautiful cities. During this time the Conjunction of The Spheres happened, bringing many otherwordly monsters into the world. Incidentally, the first appearance of humans was noted after the Conjunction of the spheres, leading to speculation that they also came from a different world. Worship of the goddess Melitele also started, so did the first runic alphabet of elves and dwarves. - Between 260BR and 760 after resurrection (AR) the nordling people (humans) arrive on the continent and quickly set out to either build their own cities or conquer the others races' ones. The elves are slow to notice and realize the threat of this new race on the continent. Three human kings started their reign, Dezmod, Sambuk and Radovid. The elven cities of Loc Muinne and Est Haemlet are assaulted and the populaces massacred by the Redanians. The elves also destroyed the elven palace of Shaerrawedd after a second clash with the humans to prevent them from building a city upon its ruins, as the humans have with many elven cities. - Between 760AR and 830AR the conclave of mages is created and laws for them to abide by are written. Better known as the Brotherhood of Sorcerers, the group was divided by the Capter of Mages, which was the highest chamber whose mages wielded the most influence, and the Council of Mages, to which the other mages belonged. A mage named Raffard the White negotiated a peace treaty in the first half of the ninth century between Temeria and various warring seaside princes and dukes, effectively ending the 6 years' war. Raffard the White and many others were later executed for failing to recognize the laws and authority of the new Council of mages. - In 840AR Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy, also known as 'Regis' is born, who later became a friend and companion of the famous witcher Geralt of Rivia. - In the 950s AR the first witchers are created by the renegade mages Alzur and Cosimo Malaspina. Ironically, Alzur is also known for creating horrible monsters, some of which still roam the continent today. - During the 970s AR the merchant known as Gregory is named a saint after sacrificing half his fortune to buy food for Novigrad, ending the famine and according to many, saving the city. - In the 1060s AR many elves and other non-humans rose up against the human oppressors, led by Aelirenn, also known as the White Rose of Shaerrawedd. This event later became known as Aelirenn's uprising and ended up in the deaths of many elven youths. This uprising was much against the wishes of the elven elders, though Aelirenn's image survives, her likeness carved in the stone of Shaerrawedd. - In the year 1112AR, a witcher named Vesemir is noted as being active and fulfilling his duties as a witcher. - In approximately 1113AR, the kingdoms of Rivia and Lyria are reunited into one by king Berric. - In the 1140s AR King Radovid III requires more resources to wage war against Aedirn and decides to tax the Appanage of Kovir. The Appanage declares itself independent and the wins the ensuing war with Redania, despite Kaedwen's support of Redania. The First Treaty of Lan Exeter is drafted and signed, recognizing that the sea is free and the northern kingdoms are not allowed to interfere with Kovir's trade. In the same decade, the powerful human sorcerer known as Cregennan of Lod is murdered in the Redanian city called Foam. His elven lover, Lara Dorren, also a powerful sorceress dies in childbirth. Their half-elf child is named Riannon and adopted by queen Cerro of Redania. - In the 1150s AR Aedirn invaded and conquered the elven kingdom of Dol Blathanna, driving the surviving elves into the mountains. During this decade Falka, oldest daughter of king Vidank, rebelled against Redania, allegedly killing the king, queen Cerro and her two brothers. Riannon, pregnant at the time was imprisoned in fort Houtborg and gave birth to twins before going mad. Falka also gave birth around this time and left her child in Riannon's care. Falka's rebellion was ultimately quelled and she was burnt alive at the stake. According to legend, she cursed all the people present at her execution and swore that they and their progeny would suffer at the hands of the child bearing her blood. Once fort Houtborg was retaken and Riannon freed, no one knew which one of the three children was Falka's daughter. King Goidemar of Temeria, husband of Riannon, had mages find out who Falka's child was, though knowing it would lead to a 2-year old child's execution, the mages did not reveal which one of the triplets was Falka's. The triplets' names are Fiona, Amavet and Adela. - In 1161AR a mechant named Ambrosio founded the cult of Coram Agh Tera along with seven other worshipers in the village of Loredo. - In the 1170s AR the black death plague breaks out in Vizima. Adela gets infected and perishes while treating the victims. Amavet is cruelly murdered by count Roger Kameny after complications arose from Amavet's affair with the count's wife. Roger Kameny is tortured and quartered by horses for this incident, causing the Temerian nobility to attempt a rebellion, which was quashed. - In 1173AR on Belletyn (the night between 30 april and 1 may) Yennefer of Vengerberg is born. - In 1211AR Vesemir lifts a curse on the princess of Poviss - In 1237AR Roegner of Ebbing is saved from death by a wandering knight called Duny, who invokes the law of surprise as payment (whatever he had left at home without knowing or expecting it). This happened to be Pavetta, his daughter. For he came home to find his wife pregnant. - In 1239AR the northern wars are started with Nilfgaard's annexation of Ebbing. - In 1252AR Duny and Pavetta are married - In 1253AR on Belletyn (the night between 30 april and 1 may) Princess Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon is born, also affectionately known as the Lion cub of Cintra. - In 1255AR Radovid V, heir to Redania is born. - It is the year 1262AR, RP in Ribbon's Crossing takes place in this year! Anything listed below is solely OOC information and hasn't happened yet IC! - In 1263AR in July Nilfgaard invades the northern kingdoms. The first battle took place at Marnadal, Cintra's army marched to the valley to repel the Nilfgaardian invaders, but found themselves greatly outnumbered. They still fought bravely from dawn to dusk, but lost, allowing Nilfgaard to invade Cintra. The battle of Cintra (called so by Nilfgaard) or the Slaughter of Cintra (Named so by the Northern kingdoms) followed shortly after when Nilfgaard reached the capital. With little to no army left, there was no siege, instead the nobles and queen retreated into the keep and managed to hold out for four days, after which the women killed their children, the men killed their women, then committed suicide. Queen Calanthe jumped out a castle tower and instantly died upon hitting the ground. Later in the same year Nilfgaard was defeated at the battle of Sodden Hill, upon which fourteen out of twenty northern mages who participated in the battle allegedly died, along with over thirty thousand other people. - In 1267AR King Vizimir II, Queen Meve, King Foltest, King Demavend III and king Henselt all secretly met at Hagge Castle, coordinating their war efforts against the Nilfgaardian invasion. The same year, a coup happened during the annual mage reunion at Thanedd when Nilfgaard's mages, lead by Vilgefortz secetly tried to attack their northern counterparts. Their plans were foiled, however, and what followed was nothing less than an all out battle between the mages, ending in most of Thanedd isle's destruction. At the same time, Nilfgaard invaded the Dol Angra valley. The same year, king Vizimir II of Redania is assassinated and Phillipa Eilhart forms the lodge of sorceresses. - In 1268AR the battle of Brenna takes place, the turning point for the Northern kingdoms who so far had been losing the war rather badly. Later this year, the Second Northern War officially ends as Nilfgaard withdraws its forces and the Peace of Cintra is signed. Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengeberg are both rumored to have died when Geralt tried to protect non-humans from angry peasants during a pogom in the city of Rivia. - In 1269AR The first battle of Vergen took place, after which the sorceress Sabrina Glevissig got burnt at the stake. - In 1270AR the witcher fortress of Kaer Morhen is assaulted by a criminal organization called Salamandra, who are after the witcher mutagens. The same year a battle took place in Vizima between the Order of the Flaming Rose, Scoia'Tael and Temerian loyalists. - In 1271AR King Foltest of Temeria is assassinated after successfully conquering castle La Valette. The famous witcher Geralt of Rivia is accused of being the assassin, who then escapes and goes on a journey to find the real assassin who turned out to be hired by Nilfgaard. In august Nilfgaard declares war on the northern kingdoms for a third time. - In 1272AR Nilfgaard quickly conquers the Northern kingdoms south of the Pontar valley. During the winter Redania betrayed their Kaedweni allies and absorbs them into Redania, forming one unified front against Nilfgaard. Having a fierce hatred of magic, King Radovid V gives the Church of the Eternal Fire permission to start hunting and killing any and all magic users in his kingdom. Later in the year, Nilfgaard and Redania reach a stalemate in Velen, a region in Temeria that is mostly swampland. Both kingdoms try to secure an alliance with Novigrad, whose ships and wealth can break the stalemate for either side. |
In - 2700BR: The area of the Crossing is all covered by the Brokilon Forest with its natural inhabitants.
- Around 200BR: The first elven settlers arrive from the area of Cintra and meet the Brokilon Dryads. - Around 150BR: The elves lead by Réalt ag Taitneamh successfully negotiate with the dryads and settle on the western bank of river Ribín, the Ribbon, the elven town of Tearmann na Duilleoga, the Sanctuary of Leaves, is found. - Around 350AR: The expansion of humans in the Northern Kingdoms is becoming apparent to the elves. The pressing needs of defense lead to new negotiations and the Dryads allow the elven settlers lead by Réalt ag Taitneamh to build a strategic fort on the eastern bank of the river Ribín in order to protect the Ghleann na Ribíní, the Valley of Ribbons, southeast of Tearmann na Duilleoga. This fortress is completed fifteen years later and named Caer ar Sciatháin, the Winged Keep. It is said that the Dryads resisted long and the final convincing argument was the clearing of the forest due to human colonization from the north-western direction. - In 391AR, the first battle of Ghleann na Ribíní takes place. The defending elves of Tearmann na Duilleoga lure the advancing human army into a cauldron situation when the reinforcements from Caer ar Sciatháin crush the human settlers. The defeat is so overwhelming that the humans would not reappear in the region for the 25 years, it is said that the elves did not lose more than dozen of theirs and left over three hundred human corpses on the battlefield. The Dryads did not get involved. - In 419AR, a human knight known by the name of Vence lays siege on Caer ar Sciatháin. The elven reinforcements sent from Tearmann na Duilleoga attempt to break the siege, but suffer a crushing defeat when a part of their forces is lured into a valley and subsequently buried under a landslide. Ironically, this human victory, marking the end of the rule of non-humans in the region, was achieved due to expertise of dwarven mercenaries incorporated in Vence's army, which is of course remembered better by dwarves than by humans. After the battle, the local elves were not able to rise a sufficient army to endanger the siege effort again. - In 422AR, after three long years of effort Caer ar Sciatháin falls under the pressure of Vence's army. The walls of the castle are torn down and the 21 remaining defenders are displayed on stakes in it's ruin, despite their surrender. Ever since the humans consider the castle a haunted place, with the 21 longing for revenge and justice. - In 423AR, the second battle of Ghleann na Ribíní take place. The remnant defenders of Tearmann na Duilleoga face the army of Knight Vence at the Ceann Sleá, but are unable to hold the fight. At the conclusion of the battle Réalt ag Taitneamh remains behind to cover retreat with a handful of brave and are killed to the last - unwilling to fall into hands of enemy after the horrors of Caer ar Sciatháin. The retreating elves are however are given enough time to lay ruin to their own settlement to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. Part of Vence's force however, including its commander and encouraged by the victory, sets to pursuit and crosses the river into Brokylon. None of them is ever seen again to tell the story of their end at the arrow tips of the Brokilon dryads. - From 450AR to 900AR, the human expansion continues, the forests are being cleared, settlements made, all around the Northern Kingdoms. Several random expeditions disappear without any trace in the inner Brokilon. The area is considered widely dangerous due to roaming monsters without control. - In 941AR, a hermit named Jacek settles at the clearing under ancient oak left standing. His shack became the first building in the Old Oak village as those seeking his wisdom would settle around in coming decades. - In 963AR, a group of Witchers arrive and settle down in the ruins of Caer ar Sciatháin, nowdays known by humans as the ruins of Kaer Arskatan, which they claim they came to clean from the haunting of the twenty-one elven specters. If they succeeded or not is in question, and many believe they only made a pact with them - if they ever existed. - In 972AR, with wealth of work in the region, the Witchers begin the repairs of Kaer Arskatan, the School of the Falcon is established. - In 975AR, an emissary of Verden arrives at the village of Old Oak with an armed escort and claims the village as property of the King of Verden, issuing the tax duty and in return claiming protection of the settlement in King's authority. - In 978AR, two Witchers from the School of Falcon, Borys and Ethelbaird, venture into the Brokilon Forest across the river. Much to the surprise of all, they return and are unharmed. Some consider this the seed of the much later beginning of the fall of the School of the Falcon. - In 1039AR, a Bruggian man named Garren builds a mill upon the river Ribbon for himself and his family in his search for fortune. He is first of a long line of Garren's up to Garren the Miller. - In 1110AR Garren the Miller is born. - In 1129AR, the Miller's Keep is built in the core of the now small settlement of Garren's Mill. - In 1132AR, family disputes threaten the security of the new trade route, Count Venimar of Rothesay visits Garren's Mill. In a serie of events Garren's Mill is made into a barony and Garren the Miller made its Baron with a golden wreath in a red field as his crest. - In 1147AR, a large group of non-humans arrives and settles down in Garren's Mill after escaping pogrom at Maribor. - From 1148 to 1149AR, two years of unrest with numerous attacks on trade caravans pleague the people in the region, supposedly work of non-human rebels. - In 1150AR, the battle at the Crossing, a skirmish where a large regiment of rebellious non-humans faced with a militia army of Garren's Mill. Curiously, the Garren's Mill army was formed in majority of the city's non-humans who tried to prove their side by this act and prevent yet another pogrom from the populace. While the battle was fought out victoriously, the long term outcomes for the living conditions of local non-humans were more than dubious. The record lists 150 men of Garren's Mill militia, of which at least a hundred were the non-humans, scattering a unit of 70 rebels, leaving over 50 corpses and the remnants scattering into Brokilon. - In 1191AR, the pogrom at Kaer Arkstan, when both Garren's Mill's and Old Oak's people unprecedentedly lay a three week long siege to to the Witcher's keep together, charging the witchers with treason, foul witchery and collaboration with monsters and enemies of both kingdoms. The siege ends when the main defensive tower, where the witchers retreated to, collapsed, burying them under the rubble. Some claim that ever since that day the twenty one specters returned to the place and the curse carries on. - In 1192AR, Garren the Miller dies at age 82 and is succeeded by Calmach Garren (born 1172). - In 1198AR, the by then 8 years old eldest son of Calmach Garren, Havelmar, disappears without a trace to be never heard of again. - In 1235AR, Calmach Garren dies at age 63 and is succeeded by Radmir Garren (born 1191). - In 1244AR, Radmir Garren dies at age 54 and is succeeded by Calmach II Garren (born 1230). - In 1261AR, Calmach II Garren and his son Dain Garren are called to Vizima's court. The rule over the city is given to Calmach's eldest daughter, Svetlana Garren (born 1244). |
